On August 12, China Energy Investment Corporation held a 2020 mid-year work conference to review its coal operations in the first half of the year and deploy key tasks for the next stage. Wang Xiangxi, chairman of China Energy, spoke at the meeting.
Wang pointed out that this year, coal businesses of the group company actively responded to the severe challenge of drastic market fluctuations, quickly resumed work and production, worked hard to increase production and profits, optimized their business layout, and accelerated the construction of smart mines and green mines. With coal production and sales both exceeding schedule, the coal segment made outstanding contributions to maintaining the steady development of the group.
For the second half of the year, Wang stressed, the group company should continue to carry out the three-year action on special rectification of production safety, promote the standardization of production safety, and take measures to prevent flooding and control the coronavirus epidemic. Efforts should be made to improve quality and increase efficiency through actions such as enhanced planning and guidance, supply-side structural reform, benchmarking, lean production management, and tackling difficulties and reversing losses. The company should also advance the construction of green and smart mines and seize the opportunity of new infrastructure development to create a new model of ecological governance and vigorously develop circular economy. It is also important to implement reform in the coal sector, deepen the industrial and regional reforms, carry out the action plan for first-class enterprise building, improve the occupational health of employees, fulfill its social responsibility as a central enterprise, and continue efforts in poverty alleviation.
The Implementation Opinions on Building Safe, Efficient and Green Smart Coal Mines and Promoting High-quality Development of the Coal Industry will serve as a programmatic document to guide the high-quality development of China Energy’s coal business in a period to come, Wang added. All units involved should formulate implementation plans in light of their actual situations, and relevant work should be incorporated into performance appraisal and encouraged by special awards.
